Custom mats- Hobby Lobby
Crib sheet/rail protector- LottieDaBaby (Etsy)

  • Still working on re-covering the glider/ottoman cushions. Glider/ottoman was a $25 find on our local BST site on FaceBook! I found some great home dec weight linen fabric at my local JoAnn's and used a 50% off coupon, so my total cost for the chair/ottoman is still only around $50!!!
  • Accidentally sucked up a Pinterest-inspired lettered banner in the vacuum cleaner so I need to recreate it with my Cricut
  • Planning to add photos of baby to some of the frames soon after her arrival :)
  • Waiting for baby girl's monogram to arrive from Etsy. I ordered it late and it still has another week to ship. The hubbie will have to paint it and hang it over the crib.

Baby #2 Nursery (Under Construction!)

Coming March 2015....

A precious new little sweetheart is on her way!

I've had the hubbie working almost constantly on the girls' rooms. We moved my punkin into a new big girl room and are revamping the nursery for little sister.

Here are the rooms when we moved in...

My "big" girl's room ^^^

The nursery ^^^

We went through a few different paint colors before I finally decided I was pleased with the punkin's new room. Yes, even though it is neutral, it is still in fact a different paint color! This one is kind of taupe-y with gray undertones and washable instead of the flat pinkish beige that was there when we moved in. I still have to hang pictures, add the dresser and play kitchen, and hubbie added a second shelf tonight that isn't pictured, but it's coming along. Best of all.... she LOVES it! :)

Oh, and we need to add the closet doors... both girlies are going to need their new closet doors put on, but for now, the hubbie is super busy readying the nursery so we can move all the baby furniture out of the guest room.

The only thing I had done in the nursery for the punkin was paint the walls. I honestly had a blast painting this room before we moved in- it actually afforded me the first alone time I had since the punkin was born while she played with our amazing, sweet babysitter downstairs. :) I love love LOVE this wall color, but it doesn't match our color scheme/theme for little sister and it had to go. Considering there's a bit left in the can, it may make a comeback in the form of an accent piece of furniture in the punkin's room or guest room later on!

Here's a sneak of the nursery now- I am sooooooo excited!

The Scrappy Lone Star Quilt (Update)

Obviously I took a hiatus from this blog for awhile. About mid-summer, 2014 became a busy year for me and my quilting buddies. There have been new pregnancies, celebrations, heartaches, illnesses, and adoptions... just to name a few! Not to mention my own sweet toddler becoming a bit more adventurous and daring whenever she thinks I'm not watching... So while all of this was most certainly NOT happening directly to me, we had to put our little quilting sessions on hold for awhile to take care of the home fronts and had some donuts/coffee/playdatey sort of chats instead. ;)

Here is my progress on the quilt so far... I think most of the girls are close-ish to this point.

By the way, I (obviously) absolutely love Kate Spain's fabric! The Lone Star fabrics are from Terrain while the toddler's Easter dress was Good Fortune. Sneak! There may be another Good Fortune project coming soon.... ;) Also, an oldie but a goodie, the Central Park crazy quilt I made for a precious friend... one of the sweetest baby girls ever! There is no rhyme or reason to the fabric placement... I began this during a crazy strip quilting class at a local quilt shop in South Carolina so it was completed in a timely manner since I didn't have the opportunity to spend hours and hours working out fabric placement and then changing my mind 4-5 more times! The appliquéd giraffe was a personal touch for baby girl that I was set on doing after being inspired by a different quilt on Pinterest and being unable to obtain the original pattern (revised and out of print). Also, since her older brother's quilt was appliquéd she needed hers to be too!

Random fleece back fabric I found at Hancock Fabrics.... sure do miss that store now that we're up north!

Annnnnd since I'm pulling out the OLD stuff, here's that sweetie pie's big brother's quilt. A good one of the top (my first time appliquéing on something that wasn't just practice scraps).

Completed quilt!

Completed Feliz ;)

Ooops! I just realized I forgot to post a picture of our finished Feliz Party Dress. It was my daughter's 2014 Easter dress. Here it is!

The end is in sight!

My sweet darling's Feliz dress is almost finished! After much debate and a couple fittings I decided to make the straps adjustable after all. Everything is finished except for sewing the button holes and buttons. I'm only waiting for a final fitting (probably tomorrow) to determine placement for the button holes. I think I'll only sew holes for a correct fit for now and add others when it becomes necessary. (Cute white onesie is courtesy of Old Navy.)

Feliz Update

I know I've been a while without posting and after much deliberation and a few changes I finally have  something to share. I apologize for the poor quality photos... these are the preliminary quick cell phone pics. (My cell phone is nearly obsolete and the tech guys that keep repairing it for me at the Sprint store have repeatedly suggested I use my upgrade. I've been eligible for quite a while, but I just can't commit to a new one yet.) I'll post better photos when the dress is completed.

Back

This is the Feliz dress I have in the works for the toddler. I am soooooo excited to see her wearing it! Obviously there were some changes to my original plan. I couldn't find another fabric I liked to coordinate with the princess prints, but I had this absolutely luxurious purple fabric in my stash.  It's from Kate Spain's Good Fortune line. (I LOOOOOVE Kate Spain's fabrics!) I tried adding buttons to the back, but I didn't care for the tabs I constructed and decided to skip it after all. I am also going to attach the shoulder straps per the pattern instructions rather than try and make them adjustable. Maybe I'll try that next time, but for now since I have my model handy I'll just attach them to fit. I typically add a flower clip to the front, but with this print... we'll see.

I'm hoping she will wear this for Easter, but it is so true to size that by making the size up it may be too large for her to wear just yet. I ordered cute little white Laura Ashley sandals to match it from Amazon

Aren't they adorable? The fit is perfect. She'll wear these with her Feliz or she'll wear them with my backup number that awaits in her closet.... a cute, white, drop-waisted eyelet dress from the Gap.

Now it's time for me to turn in... maybe tomorrow I'll finish??? Until then...

Mommydom

I should have been in bed hours ago, but this is what a cold, subsequent nap while the kiddo was down, and caffeine do to me...

Since my brain won't shut off and I've already spent entirely too much time on Pinterest I decided to tour my house and pick up the messes of the day. I loaded the dishwasher, threw spaghettied bibs in the wash, picked up toys, discovered hidden sippy cups, reconfigured the dishwasher arrangement to allow for more junk, and found this. It made me smile.
